What are the Dangerous Goods classes for?
The ADR (Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) classifies dangerous goods according to UN recommendations into a total of 9 dangerous goods classes. These are standardized and valid worldwide, regardless of whether the transport is by land, sea, or air.
Class 1: Explosive substances
Class 2: Gases and gaseous substances
Class 3: Flammable liquids
Class 4: Solid, decomposable or self-igniting substances
Class 5: Oxidizing substances
Class 6: Toxic & infectious substances
Class 7: Radioactive substances
Class 8: Corrosive substances
Class 9: Miscellaneous dangerous substances
These are often divided into further sub-classes for more precise classification.
Dangerous Goods & hazardous substances?
What is the difference?
Hazardous substances are Dangerous Goods that are stored or used. Hazardous substances are Dangerous Goods in transport. The difference lies in the legal regulation. As long as the hazardous substance is located on the company's own premises, the hazardous substances law applies. The hazardous goods law (ADR & GGVS) on the other hand applies to the transport of the hazardous substance.
The so-called hazardous substances are assigned to different dangerous goods classes during transport.
Please note:
We are happy to advise you in selecting the right packaging - however, the packer is responsible for selecting legally compliant packaging. This is the definition of ADR:
"Packer is the company that fills dangerous goods into packaging, including large packagings and large-packaging (IBC), and, if applicable, prepares the shipments for transport.
Also usable as an operating resource.
Our packaging is also used as operating materials for intermediate fillings, samples, or retention samples - reliable and chemical resistant. Thanks to the variety of sizes and configurations, our packaging can be flexibly integrated into every production stage - from small batches to large-scale production.
