PP as a material

Polypropylene belongs to the family of polyolefins and is one of the most commonly used plastics in the packaging industry. It stands out for its particularly low weight (density approx. 0.90–0.91 g/cm³) and its high resistance to chemicals, fats, and moderate to good barrier properties against moisture.

PP is dimensionally stable, heat resistant and retains its mechanical strength even with repeated use. At the same time, it is physiologically safe, odor- and taste-neutral – ideal for food packaging, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and many industrial applications.

Thanks to its toughness and breakage resistance, PP is perfect for reusable containers, buckets, bottles or dosing systems. It can be easily dyed and thus offers a variety of design possibilities. In addition, polypropylene is 100% recyclable and thus contributes to a resource-efficient circular economy.

PP - Questions & Answers

Polypropylene is a thermoplastic material from the polyolefin family. It is characterized by its low weight, high stability, and resistance to chemicals. PP can be manufactured in various ways to ensure optimal performance characteristics at different temperatures. PP has a high temperature tolerance and is autoclavable.
  • Very light & robust
  • Chemical & moisture resistant
  • Heat resistant & dimensionally stable
  • Odorless & tasteless
  • 100% recyclable
One disadvantage of PP is that it is rather difficult to print on. For declarations, logos, and similar imprints, the use of stickers or films is recommended.
