Berlin Packaging | Rixius and RIGK Join Forces to Deliver Take-Back, Compliance and Circular Solutions for Plastic Packaging

Wiesbaden/Mannheim, June 2026 – Berlin Packaging Rixius GmbH and RIGK GmbH are launching a strategic partnership to support companies in implementing take-back, recycling and regulatory compliance solutions for plastic packaging. At the core of the collaboration is a joint approach designed to simplify the path from packaging use to verifiable recycling, while creating opportunities for recycled content integration and closed-loop solutions.

Industrial and commercial packaging users are facing increasing challenges in aligning growing requirements arising from packaging legislation, EU regulations and internal sustainability targets with their day-to-day operations. The partnership between Berlin Packaging | Rixius and RIGK addresses these challenges directly by combining packaging expertise and customer proximity with take-back, recycling and compliance know-how.

The partnership combines two complementary strengths: Berlin Packaging | Rixius contributes extensive packaging expertise, application-focused consulting and close relationships with packaging users across a broad range of industrial and commercial sectors. RIGK complements this with decades of experience in take-back and recycling systems, regulatory expertise, established system infrastructures, and comprehensive documentation and reporting capabilities.

The result is a structured and practical pathway for returning plastic packaging into material cycles in a legally compliant manner. Companies receive support ranging from the initial assessment through the selection of suitable take-back options to organizational implementation and transparent documentation.

Focus on Compliance Assurance, Operational Relief and Measurable Circularity Impact

The partnership is designed to support packaging users in three key areas. First, it strengthens compliance assurance by helping companies assess their obligations and documentation requirements, including those related to the German Packaging Act (VerpackG), the Packaging Data Act (VerpackDG), the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the LUCID register, and related documentation and reporting obligations. Second, it reduces operational effort by coordinating take-back, recycling and implementation activities through clearly defined points of contact. Third, it establishes the basis for measurable circularity impact: through structured take-back and recycling processes, collection quality and recyclability can be improved, creating opportunities for the use of recycled materials and closed-loop approaches.

Structured Onboarding Through Status Assessments, Consulting and Implementation

At the beginning of the partnership, the focus is on take-back solutions and system integration. A structured compliance and status assessment serves as the entry point to determine a company’s current situation. This may include reviewing aspects such as registration status, system participation, take-back organization, documentation processes and opportunities for optimization. 

Based on these findings, Berlin Packaging | Rixius and RIGK support the next steps – from expert assessment and the selection of suitable take-back solutions through to implementation, including reporting and documentation. For suitable applications, a take-back option in the Mannheim region is available at launch. In addition, nationwide solutions for larger projects can also be evaluated and implemented. 

Looking Ahead: From Take-Back to Advanced Circular Solutions

While the immediate focus is on the efficient and legally compliant take-back of plastic packaging, the medium-term objective of the partnership is to further develop recycled content applications and closed-loop solutions where appropriate. In doing so, the partners aim to make an additional contribution to a robust, transparent and verifiable circular economy for plastic packaging.
