Berlin Packaging will expand its capacities in Germany through the merger with Rixius GmbH
Monday, 22 September 2025, 9:00 AM: Berlin Packaging, the world's largest Hybrid Packaging Supplier®, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rixius GmbH, a Germany-based supplier specializing in glass and plastic packaging, closures, and accessories in the DACH and Benelux regions. Rixius offers packaging solutions for various industries, including cosmetics, nutritional supplements, food & catering, pharmaceuticals, and technology & industry.
Rixius GmbH was founded 145 years ago by Peter Rixius in Mannheim, Germany, and has evolved from a traditional packaging wholesaler to a full-service supply partner. The company now offers a broad portfolio of packaging solutions and a range of services such as consulting, customized packaging, packaging design (e.g., printing, labeling), framework agreements, and much more.

The private equity firm BWK has been the main shareholder of Rixius since 2007 and will end its stake in the company after the sale to Berlin Packaging is completed. During the investment period, Rixius recorded stable growth in sales and profitability.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
